One in 10 Women who use Abortion Drugs Face Major Health Risks.
A new large study conducted in America on women who have used the drug mifepristone to cause an abortion indicates that they face greater health risks than previously recognized—with 1 in 10 women facing serious health risks.
The study conducted by the Ethics and Public Policy Center highlights the complications that women face from a drug that did not receive sufficient testing before being release into the public sector. This new study of insurance claims after use of the drug, includes more than triple the number of participants than earlier clinical trials done over 30 years ago.
“The number of poorly regulated Virginia tele-health appointments prescribing abortion drugs is rapidly on the rise. It is now the primary form of abortion here and across America. No one pushing forward the abortion agenda in the current General Assembly seems to care about the risk they are putting women under, or the babies these drugs kill. It’s all about the money to be made!,” said Olivia Gans Turner, President of VSHL.
Since the introduction of mifepristone for abortion, the FDA safety protocols have been gradually eroded leading to minimal protocols that put women’s health in greater peril. As a first step towards protecting women, VSHL urges the Food and Drug Administration to reinstate the original safeguards that were in place until a few years ago.
“Mifepristone is a powerful drug that when given to pregnant women not only can kill an unborn baby with a beating heart, but as this new data reveals, also places that child’s mother in a dangerous position that threatens her own health or life,” said Turner.
