Virginia Society for Human Life Applauds Governor’s Call to Investigate Possible Violation of Virginia’s Parental Notification Law
Today, August 13th, Governor Youngkin called on the Virginia State police to investigate the distressing reports from Fairfax County that involve county employees possibly violating state laws that protect parents’ right to know before a minor daughter has an abortion.
“This story has shocked many parents across Virginia in recent days and must be taken seriously. It is a critical step to help clarify how this may have happened and who is responsible! Thank you, Governor Youngkin,” said Olivia Gans Turner, president of VSHL.

Current law in the Commonwealth requires parental consent or a judicial bypass before a minor girl may get an abortion. It appears that neither was acquired in the two cases that have emerged in Fairfax. The fear that many have is that these cases may not be singular events.
Virginia Society for Human Life is the oldest state-wide pro-life organization in the nation with chapters throughout the Commonwealth supporting life issues and the Virginia affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee.
