Virginians from all over the Commonwealth attend the March for Life
Today, January 22, our country acknowledges the tragic Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade, which made abortion legal through all nine months of pregnancy in all fifty states. The Virginia Society for Human Life joins with pro-life people across the Commonwealth and America in remembering the millions of innocent babies who have died as a result of that decision. VSHL is dedicated to passing reasonable laws that will protect all innocent human life, the unborn, the elderly, and those with disabilities or illness.
Virginians from all over the Commonwealth, from as far away as Radford to Virginia Beach, will come to Washington DC despite bitterly cold temperatures to attend this year's March for Life. They will come to speak to their Congressmen and Senators in support of pro-life legislation, including the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
"More and more scientific information is expanding our understanding of the humanity of the unborn, including the remarkable fact that many babies are capable of feeling pain as early as 20 weeks in utero. Across the country laws are being passed that extends protection to these children. VSHL looks forward to being able to pass laws that will extend protection to pain capable unborn children in the near future." said Olivia Gans Turner
VSHL is grateful for the many sensible and protective laws that the members of the Virginia General Assembly have helped to pass over these many years. Most importantly the babies and mothers protected by our pro-life laws are eternally grateful.
This year will be no different. There will be attacks from pro-abortion groups in Virginia on the most recent hard won laws that protect women at abortion facilities and give mothers the chance to see their unborn babies before an abortion. VSHL will oppose any attempts to reverse or reject those reasonable and important laws regarding abortion facility regulations or ultrasound requirements.
"Abortion hurts so many, unborn children and their mothers pay the highest price, but all of our society has been harmed by this tragedy in our history." Turner said.
The Virginia Society for Human Life is the oldest pro-life organization in the Country and the Virginia affiliate of National Right to Life Committee.
